QR Dot Lab · Android
Privacy Policy
Overview
QR Dot Lab does not require an account and has no Alternix cloud backend. Text, links, contact details, Wi-Fi credentials, locations, cryptocurrency details, logos, and design settings entered for a QR code are processed on the device. Alternix does not receive the content of your QR codes.
Local history and settings
Created QR codes, their source data, design settings, favorites, language, and theme preferences can be stored locally so you can reuse them. Wi-Fi passwords are not added to history. You can delete individual entries or clear the history in the app. Data is removed when you clear the app data or uninstall the app. Android system backup is disabled for QR Dot Lab.
Location and Wi-Fi autofill
Location and nearby-device permissions are requested only after you choose automatic location or Wi-Fi autofill. Coordinates and the connected network name are used only to fill the fields on screen. Android does not provide the saved Wi-Fi password to third-party apps, so it must be entered manually. You can deny these permissions and enter all values yourself.
Advertising and consent
QR Dot Lab uses Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to show banner ads on several app screens. A rewarded ad is offered before PNG, SVG, PDF, EPS, or TIFF export and before sharing a QR code with a transparent background. JPEG export and sharing a QR code with an opaque background do not require a rewarded ad. Google and its partners may process device identifiers, the IP address, diagnostic data, approximate location inferred from the IP address, interactions with the app and ads (such as app launches, taps, and ad or video views), and consent choices for advertising, analytics and measurement, fraud prevention, and security. In the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Google User Messaging Platform is used to request and store the applicable consent choices. QR content and designs are not intentionally sent to AdMob.
Before the first advertising request, the app asks you to choose either “13–17” or “18+”. It stores only that category locally and does not request or store your date of birth or exact age. For ages 13–17, the Mobile Ads SDK receives Google’s TEEN treatment, advertising personalization is disabled, the maximum ad content rating is G, and UMP is told that the user is under the age of consent. For age 18 or over, treatment is UNSPECIFIED and UMP manages consent and personalization according to your choices and applicable law. You can change the category in Settings; the new advertising configuration is applied before further ad requests.
Files, sharing, and logos
When you select a logo, Android grants the app access only to the chosen file. When you save an export, the system file picker lets you choose the destination. When you share a QR code, Android sends the exported file only to the app or service you select. Alternix does not upload these files.
Permissions and network access
Depending on Android version and the feature you use, the app may declare precise and approximate location, nearby Wi-Fi devices, Wi-Fi state, network state, Internet, advertising identifier, Ad Services attribution and topics, wake lock, and foreground-service permissions. Internet access is used by AdMob and its consent flow, not to upload QR content. The app does not request the camera, contacts, microphone, or broad storage access.
Libraries and service providers
QR generation uses ZXing and the interface uses AndroidX and Jetpack Compose. These libraries run locally. Google Mobile Ads SDK and Google User Messaging Platform communicate with Google for advertising and consent. The app does not use Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics. This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, whose infrastructure may process standard web request data under GitHub’s own policy.
Retention, security, and children
Alternix does not keep a server-side copy of app data because the app has no Alternix account or backend. Local data remains until you delete it or remove the app. Advertising providers retain data under their own policies and your consent choices. QR Dot Lab is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed to children under 13. Google states that data transmitted by the Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS. No security measure can eliminate every risk, so review sensitive QR content before sharing it.
Your choices
You can use manual entry instead of location or Wi-Fi autofill, revoke permissions in Android settings, delete local history, change advertising consent where the app or regional rules provide that option, and choose whether to watch a rewarded ad for protected export formats. You may contact us about privacy at alternix.apps@gmail.com.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app, SDKs, or legal requirements change. The current version and date will remain available at this public URL. Questions can be sent to alternix.apps@gmail.com.
